My Invisible Empire series, which premiered at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta as part of the Picturing the South: 25 Years exhibition 2021, will be featured in the traveling exhibition Free as They Want to Be: Artists Committed to Memory. This exhibition, co-curated by Dr. Cheryl Finley and Dr. Deborah Willis, Ph.D., will be on view at the Clark Atlanta Art Museum from Thursday, September 19, through December 13, 2024.

“This contemporary art exhibition draws inspiration from historical memory, utilizing photography, video, and archival materials. It explores how these mediums have shaped the afterlives of slavery in post-emancipation America and the liberating power of photography (art) in defining a free self.”

Dr. Cheryl Finley and Dr. Deborah Willis will have a curator talk on October 1, 2024, at 6 pm, hosted by Clark Atlanta Art Museum.

So check it out if you are in Atlanta !
